But then they have to always buy a scroll

Also if they changed the system back they'ed have to remove free travel between districts or it'd be a bit pointless

keep it how it is as of right now and less crying (and less usage of the word "epic" -cough-) about it. the PvE aspect of GW being influenced by PvP was always a shitty idea (meaning no UW/FoW unless PvP reaches the requirements, 5 consecutive wins for your nation).

I don't miss the old halls, but I do miss the old Tomb of the Primeval Kings outpost. I hope it is restored to its former glory ere long.

Don't we have, like, 2 quadrillion minutes of favor nowadays? I like the new system, but I do miss sitting there with my guildies and suddenly see "America has won in the hall of heroes" or somesuch and have a mad rush to get into UW and FoW

All I need to say is:

It's 200 gold per scroll to get into either The Deep or Urgoz's Warren. It's over 1000 gold per scroll to get into either Fissure of Woe or The Underworld.

Talk about earn vs. pay.

I remember it clearly. I remember during the early parts of 2006 when America had favor constantly too. I remember Europe dominating for a long time after Factions, then almost constantly near and after Nightfall. I didn't like it one bit.

I don't want it back, I don't care about the old system, good riddance.

The old system had a lot more character, and was a lot more fun. I really enjoyed the announcements of what was going on, and it supported the idea of having some context of PvP happenings even if you werent playing it. So what if one region had favor most of the time? Scrolls were implemented for that reason.

I never played much and I don't go into UW/FoW so it doesn't bother me at all.

I'm happy with the current system I guess.

Halls was better when Korea was actually involved. European guilds outnumber every other region's guilds(last I checked it was 1 American guild for every 6 Euro guilds), so the chances of have 3 Euro guilds/teams meet up in HoH is very high during Euro peak hours. So unless you break Europe up into other regions, its really not even remotely fair.

Just leave it as it is, don't need to give PvE'rs another reason to complain about what the PvP'rs do, as they complain about alot already.

I remember it quite clearly.

I also remember how much it sucked to lose access to content and not be able to do anything about it as a PvEer. Later on, I remember not caring remotely about it while farming fame.

I never really liked the concept of PvP determining who can access a PvE area. Tbh I was sick of not being able to UW/FoW until night. Not to mention not being able to UW/FoW with people on different servers.

The current system isn't perfect, but I prefer it over the old one.

But ANet hasn't just changed the system. We now have "workarounds" that would alleviate player discontent, namely the scrolls and unlimited district switching. Scroll cost may be prohibitive, but people forget that they are a guaranteed drop from the end chest after clearing FoW and UW, in addition to being a random drop. What's more, the whole team gets one after a clear, which is probably the reason I can't remember the last time I spent actual gold on the entry fee, or was asked to contribute.

The problem, though, is that unlimited district switching makes the old favor system largely irrelevant. Not having to wait for content is good, of course, but waiting for FoW/UW access was precisely what fostered the sense of camaraderie in Temple of the Ages. With everyone able to just hop on over to the winning boat, HA will remain only as relevant to a PvE player as all other PvP - which is to say, the PvE player will only notice it when some skills get nerfed because of PvP (ab)use.

People want the old system back because winning and holding Halls used to mean something. Specifically, it was the only way to leave your mark on the game world. Factions attempted to capitalize on this specific player base with the town control system, but rewards there were neither as direct (one fight instead of countless AB fights) nor as immediate (one win streak instead of constant donations) as in HA, and even worse with respect to the challenge missions. ANet has opted to "compensate" the HA players with exclusive chest drops, but that apparently isn't what they're after. Until and unless ANet gets a clue and designs a "game world impact" reward system that is as good as the original favor one, people will not be satisfied.

At this point, changing the favor back won't do anything for the Halls. With unlimited district switching, the "game impact" of winning Halls will be only minimally higher than it is now. This, just like too many other things in Guild Wars, now boils down to vanity, and while improving accessibility does allow the game to be enjoyed by more people, it needs to be paired with "meaningful" reward systems for the... "more discerning" players. Otherwise, people will end up jaded - "Nothing really matters, so what's the point?" - and quit, hurting the game in the long run.

In other words, either keep it how it is *endless favor gained from maxing titles and unlimited district switching* or make HA decide favor and remove the district switching, thats the only way to not hurt GW in this aspect, that is what your saying right? Makes sense if so, but removing the unlimited district switching will hurt GW on its own, with tons of QQing, but hey, this is GW, that will happen no matter what happens.

Do I consider the old system good?
No.
Do I consider the new system good?
No.

If the entrance to these areas should be conditional - it should depend on the actions of the players itself.

Having said that - I do miss the standing around in ToA - listening to the crappy local chatter (and participating in the useless party chatter ) - going - "Just one more win!1!" - and then going "D'oh" or "YAY!11!"
But the problem is that those WERE completely different times. The normal thing to do with the local chat was to participate in a conversation rather then having it turned off.
So no - the old system wasn't good - but the times in which the system ruled the world WERE.

I miss old halls to, and by old halls I mean when it was located in ToPK and ppl called it HoH or tombs, not HA. I miss the unworthy dead as well, and when pvp was fun, gw was great, etc etc.
